Start Your Social Enterprise - Make a Difference Workshop & Seed Fund Pitch

As part of the council wide Enterprise Week 2019, in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council, the Atlantic Social Lab Project facilitated a Start Your Social Enterprise workshop, which was designed to teach budding social entrepreneurs all the basics of setting up a social enterprise - from legal structures, branding and marketing to business planning. The workshop also included guest speakers, such as award winning social entrepreneur, Dave Linton from Madlug and Gerry Mc Fadden from Strabane District Caring Services, who explained their journeys through social enterprise and this allowed delegates to interact with each other and ask questions.

The workshop cumulated with a £2k Social Enterprise Seed Fund Pitch which was the result of a competition which opened in October 2018. At the competition event, budding social entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to a panel of judges in a bid to win the Derry City and Strabane District Council Social Enterprise Innovation Seed Fund.

£2,000 was up for grabs for individuals or groups who have a creative social enterprise idea they want to get off the ground.
