The European Commission has decided to register a European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) entitled 'Ensuring a dignified reception of migrants in Europe'.

According to the initiative's organizers, the Commission should develop a new system for voluntary distribution of asylum seekers throughout the EU while ensuring effective solidarity among member states. Additionally, they call for binding reception standards ensuring dignified living conditions for asylum seekers across the EU in terms of food, health, housing, education, and employment.
